Leaving school this summer? Read this…

So make sure you know the options.

Getting a job or going to college is the traditional choice that young people face when they leave secondary school.

But what if there was another option?

And what if that option involved getting paid to learn…and helped you get an apprenticeship?

Sounds good? Then Welsh Government’s Traineeship programme is for you.

GET INSTANT NEWS AND INFO FROM WREXHAM COUNCIL WITH MYUPDATES.

Aimed at 16-18 year-olds and delivered by Wrexham Council’s itec, the programme involves sessions at itec HQ on Whitegate Industrial Estate and work placements.

Learners complete 21 hours per week and get an allowance of £30 per week (plus financial support towards travel expenses).

You can then progress to a Level 1 Traineeship, where you work towards qualifications in areas like retail, business and administration, customer services, ICT and childcare.

When you get to this level, you work 30-40 hours a week and your allowance increases to £50.

The great thing about this option is that you learn…and earn money.

And lot of people who follow this route secure an apprenticeship or employment through their work placements.

To find out if you’re eligible, contact Wrexham itec on 01978 367100 or email itecwrexham.gov.uk for more info.
