Llanelli Half Marathon Shortlisted For Award
Tuesday 13th of February 2018
Llanelli’s popular half marathon, which has sold out with over two months to go, has been shortlisted for the 2018 UK Running Awards.
The longest running of its kind in west Wales, the event, which has received support from Carmarthenshire County Council’s Event Support Fund, takes in some of the most scenic landscapes on the South Wales coast, starting and finishing at the home of the legendary Scarlets rugby team, Parc y Scarlets.
It will be held on Sunday, February 18.
Marketing Director, Emma Martin-Jewell, of Front Runner Events, said: “We are delighted with the news that the Llanelli Half Marathon has made the shortlist of the prestigious UK Running Awards and also with the response we have had from the local running community. Having taken over the event just a year ago, it is an incredible achievement after our inaugural event in March this year.
“It is always a popular event with a setting and terrain second to none. We are grateful of the support from Carmarthenshire County Council and look forward to seeing the event grow”.
Organisers are now searching for volunteers to help the event run smoothly. A range of roles are available from general race makers to crowd control stewards and water station assistants.
Executive board member for culture, sport and tourism Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, said: “We would like to congratulate Front Runner Events on the success they have achieved so far.
“This is a magnificent event along Llanelli’s iconic Millennium Coastal Park and we are pleased to be supporting it.”
