New bus arrangements in Porth this weekend for Welsh Water works

Ahead of Welsh Water’s second weekend of works in Porth, the Council has worked closely with bus operators and identified temporary arrangements to help alleviate the delays experienced last weekend.

Welsh Water carried out works at Porth Street, Porth, from January 13-15 – the first of three consecutive weekends of work in connection with the installation of a new water main.

Each weekend of work requires the temporary closure of Porth Street at its junction with Pontypridd Road. During the works motorists will be diverted via Porth Bridge Roundabout and back to Pontypridd Road.

The works have been scheduled on weekends to minimise disruption to the local community as much as possible.

This weekend’s works will require the same road closure from 7pm on Friday, January 19, through to 6am on Monday, January 22 – but there will be changes to bus services on January 20. Stagecoach has posted details on their buses and at bus stops. The changes are that:

;There will be no change to services 150 to Gilfach Goch, 155 to Ferndale, 137 to Coronation Terrace or 138 to Trehafod on Saturday, January 20 – or to any services on Friday, January 19 or Sunday, January 21.

;For motorists, the same local diversion route as last weekend will be in place for the duration of the works. From the southern side of the closure proceed via Cymmer Bridge, A4058 northbound, Porth Bridge Roundabout, A4058 southbound and Cymmer Bridge, to the northern side of the closure.

;Welsh Water has advised that access will not be maintained for emergency vehicles, but will be maintained for pedestrians.

;The third and final closure is expected to take place from January 26-29.
