Andrew Jarrett has been appointed as Neath Port Talbot Council’s Director of Social Services, Health and Housing.

Andrew Jarrett, Director of Social Services, Health and Housing

Mr Jarrett takes up the role as Director after spending five years within the Council, first as Head of Children and Family Services, and more recently as Head of Social Services.

A qualified social worker, Mr Jarrett has more than 20 years experience of both strategic and operational management and multi-agency working within the field of social services.

Mr Jarrett has played a pivotal role in improving Children and Young People by ensuring a strong workforce, manageable caseloads and a high quality of social work.

Going forward, Mr Jarrett will focus on the Council’s commitment to continue the safeguarding of children and adults, offer more personalised care, find ways of providing early support to people in need, and utilising community resources to complement or avoid needing traditional care services.

Councillor Rob Jones, Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, said:

“Following a thorough and testing selection process, I am delighted to announce Andrew as our new Director of Social Services, Health and Housing.

“This remains a challenging time for all councils, particularly with increasing demand being placed on social services. However, I am confident that Andrew can deliver on our commitment to provide services in a more innovative way and meet demand with fewer resources.”
