A new chapter for Bala Library
Tuesday 13th of February 2018
After receiving a grant of £120,000 from the Welsh Government in order to renovate Bro Tegid Library in Bala, Gwynedd Council’s Library Service has reopened at its original site in Ysgol y Berwyn, following a temporary move to Penllyn Leisure Centre whilst work was being carried out at the library in the school.
A number of events will be held over half term for children and adults to officially launch the reopening.
A ‘colour and relax’ session for adults – an opportunity to socialise whilst colouring in an informal setting will be held on Tuesday, 13 February between 11 and midday, followed by ‘Murder in the Library’ – an afternoon with crime writers Myfanwy Alexander and John Alwyn Griffith between 2pm and 4pm including a cup of tea and refreshments.
There are also activities for children, with a competition to draw a picture of ‘Tegi’, an afternoon of ‘Wild Elements’ on Friday, 16 February between 2pm and 4pm and a Family Fun morning on Saturday, 17 February between 10am and 12pm. All of the events are free of charge and there is no need for prior booking.
Councillor Craig ab Iago, Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet Member who leads on Libraries said:
“Following a generous grant of £120,000 from the Welsh Government, the improvements that have been made to the library including the provision of a flexible room for library activities and a more appealing children's section.
“Since the library is on the site of the new learning campus which will be opening soon, it will serve as communal hub for the town, where people and children can congregate for events that will be held there.
“I’d like to thank the library users for their cooperation during the refurbishing period. The updated library will offer better provision, and create a friendly and welcoming resource for every user.&;
